Every Bishop’s conference in the world was expected to submit a ten-page synthesis report of the 10-page diocesan reports by August 15. The Vatican’s synod office will now distill the results into an “Instrumentum Laboris” or working document for the 2023 meeting of bishops in Rome.

Youth Vacation Bible School 2021
St. Dominic Savio Parish is organizing a Vacation Bible School with theme “A Radical Ride on the Wings of Prayer…with Amazing Angels and Super Saints.” This Vacation Bible School is just right for your kids! It is a place for them to come together in a loving and caring atmosphere to share experiences and faith with their peers. The program is full of great activities and lots of fun. You are invited!
Who: Kids ages 5 to 12.
Where: St. Dominic Savio Catholic Church
When: Monday – Friday, August 16-20, 2021
Time: 9 AM – 12 Noon daily
Cost: Minimum of $35 per child.

St. Dominic Savio Parish is looking to hire a highly motivated and confident Youth Coordinator. St. Dominic Savio is an active Salesian parish with more than 2500 registered parishioners, located in north-east Edmonton. Under the direction of the Pastor, the Youth Coordinator will be responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating effective programs for youth, young adults and families within the parish.
General responsibilities will include: coordinating youth and young adult groups/events, visiting schools, helping to coordinate youth involvement in parish liturgies and events, planning family events, promoting activities and facilitating the annual Vacation Bible School program.
Qualifications:
Must have a solid theological background in Catholic teachings. A post-secondary degree in theology, religious studies or other related degree would be preferred.
Certificate in Youth Ministry studies, Youth Evangelization certificate, Sacramental Preparation studies or other equivalent certifications may be considered.
Must be a fully initiated member of the Catholic Church in good standing and in agreement with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Must have experience working with youth, families and volunteers within a parish, diocese or school setting.
Must have the ability to use current technologies and standard software. An understanding of new communication and social media technologies including safety best practices is an asset.
Excellent verbal/ written communications skills and interpersonal skills are required.
The ability to lead music and/ or play guitar or piano would be an asset.
NOTE: This is a full-time position that requires 35 hours per week. Hours of work are flexible to include activities that may occur during evenings and weekends. The Archdiocese of Edmonton requires all employees to undergo a Police Records Check including the Vulnerable Sector Information Check and Intervention Records Check.

Pastoral Assistant – St. Dominic Savio
We have an opportunity for a Full Time position up to 35 hours per week for Pastoral Assistant at St. Dominic Savio parish located in Edmonton. This position has a variable schedule that includes some evenings.
The responsibilities include support for the Pastor in a comprehensive pastoral program for the parish. The successful candidate will collaborate with other parish staff, parish pastoral council and finance committee members for overall pastoral care of the parish. Included in this role are responsibilities to assist the Pastor in providing support in areas such as Worship, Sacramental Preparation, Faith Formation and Pastoral Care in accordance with Archdiocesan policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Certificate in Catholic Studies or equivalent is required.
Bachelor degree in Theology or Masters in Divinity is preferred.
Training in specific programs such as RCIA, pastoral care, sacramental preparation and other specialties.
Conflict management, problem solving training.
Knowledge of community resources is preferred.
Active Catholic faith life and abides by the teachings of Catholicism in his/her personal life.
Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation.
Requires weekend and evening work for events and meetings.
